Bringing geotechnical and structural engineering expertise to support a unique sheet pile walling system with props and waler beams to assist in constructing Moore Park Tunnel for Sydney Light Rail.
The Sydney Light Rail project involves construction of new light rail lines from Circular Quay to Randwick and Kensington, in Sydney NSW.
Tetra Tech Coffey were engaged as specialist consultant who provided geotechnical, structural and civil design services for temporary works during construction of the Sydney Light Rail Project
We provided full time residential engineer and geotechnical technicians on site for the track subgrade testing and bearing assessment. Tetra Tech Coffey engineers provided geotechnical, structural, and civil design services for temporary works, which included the following:
- Detailed designs (geotechnical and structural engineering services) for temporary sheet pile wall for open tunnel construction of section over Moore Park and ANZAC Pde crossing
- Temporary design for various temporary retaining walls to protect the existing major services for tunnel construction
- Geotechnical and structural design/advice:
- Temporary excavation batters up to 7 – 10 m height in loose dune sand,
- Temporary working platform design for heavy construction equipment, i.e cranes, piling rigs,
- Building foundations for new electrical substations
- Temporary support and protection of the existing structures such as buildings, retaining walls, services (water, high pressure gas, stormwater services)
- Geotechnical testing for rail subgrade compaction and treatment and other constructed structures
- Optimisation design for track subgrade treatment, new pavement construction, and existing pavement rehabilitation
- Optimisation design for permanent rail alignment retaining walls
- Optimisation and design advices for electrical wire overhead structures
- Civil design for temporary road diversion during rail track construction
